43/365 - elephant ear

The news just said we got the most rain in a 24 hour period here in Jacksboro Texas. We received over 2 inches of rain. It has rained in north Texas the past couple of days mostly missing us. As a matter of fact the system that just moved away from Texas unloaded over 12 inches in some places. I checked my plants and I have an elephant ear poking out. I might have a problem, due to poor planning to the left of that elephant ear is my watermelons. Can I move the vines around the elephant ear for this year? What to do......

42/365 - Kasey

Wednesday - Kasey's funeral, she was 14 years old. The service was very good. The church here in Jacksboro was full and I would guess around 800 or more were there. Very good turn out for a town with a little over 4,000 people. Please continue to pray for the family and friends of Kasey.

41/365 - Blizzards

I was thinking today, I don't think Rachel has ever had a blizzard before. We went down and got us one she liked it a lot. Since she doesn't have a big sweet tooth she would eat it for a while and then put it in the freezer. What a cheap date we can eat on it for days.

40/365 - Waiting for daddy

Here is Rachel waiting for me to get home. Jackie and Rachel beat me home - because I was playing basketball.

39/365 - hole

When I got home today, apparently something has made a home under my driveway. God bless Texas! I am guessing an armadillo.

38/365 - Sometimes we don't understand

A Sad day here in Jacksboro. Two girls (sisters freshman and sophomore) had a single car accident. The Freshman, Casey, was ejected from the car and died moments later waiting for medical help. She was unconscious the whole time with major head trauma and was care flighted to Ft. Worth. I am not looking forward to school on Monday. A very sad day, my prayers and thoughts are with the family.

37/365 - 5!!!!

Friday marks the end of the school week. That means 5 weeks left. Its going to go fast.

36/365 - All Mine

I called for the final pay-off today. It was $58.11, we are so excited. No more truck payment. This very exciting for us. It is the first vehicle that we have ever paid off.

35/365 - Enjoy the weather

Well my truck said 97 degrees today. Now that the sun was going down and it was cooler, Rachel and I laid in the yard and watched the birds in the tree.

34/365 - Flowers

Well Hello Mr. Flower. I didn't see you come and sprout in my flower pot. These are flowers I had in here last year and they came back!!

33/365 - Home sick

Rachel felt sick Sunday night, so I got to stay home with her on Monday. Rachel's allergies were very bad and she was felt beter after some medicine. We played puzzles, read books, and we even played some air hockey.

32/365 - Flowers and "Oreos"

On the way home from church we took some pictures of the "Oreo" cows. I know this isn't the technical name, but its what we call them. Then we found some bluebonnets. We didn't get any real good pictures because we were dodging fire ants the whole time.

31/365 - Another Party

Drew turned 2! Rachel had carrots, tomatoes, and celery with her cake. She is not a big fan of cake, but loves veggies.

30/365 - Pumpkin

If you have seen my other blog you know about the garden thing. We got a kick on how well the pumpkin is growing. We started it with a seed and now I think its about time to plant in the garden.

28/365 - Dang Planter-Fascitis

Well I started a new quest. I am going to run/walk to loose weight. After I got back my foot hurt. I have planter-fascitis, and from what I understand, it is something I have to work through. There are a couple of ways to get this. I am pretty certain mine comes from being over weight. I played football and had my ankle in ice water, been in a whirl pool, and I was always banged up, but putting a bag of ice on the bottom of my foot ranks up there as one of the worst treatments. After a while it feels so much beter. (15:31; 281)

27/365 - What time do you get off?

I know this might be rude, but I have to brag. Usually I have some sort of practice after school, but look what time I got home today. Sorry about it; if you were working today. I also looked at my calender, I have 2 weeks regular. Then we have TAKS testing. Then in May there is not one full week were I work the entire week. One week I will even be gone 3 days. Teachers need me to drive the bus for field trips. I even get paid to drive the bus as well as my regular pay. Are you kidding me? Sign me up to drive the bus. The field trip I am most excited about is "Medieval Times" - Sorry Jackie

26/365 - The End

My last track obligation for the year. I had to go and time the high school district track meet. The girls coaches will do the finals on Thursday. I am glad it is done, but I hated that I had to go on my day off. What happened to doing track during the school day? I am all about, getting out of class to go to a track meet not on my day off.

25/365 - Easter Church

Why am I that person that hates to hear, "I told you so?" I know my parents will not tell me that, but their church, I must admit was very good. One of the best parts was that they have a very good children's program. At my little town the children's church consisted of Rachel playing with the toys (by herself) in the back. Today she learned that Jesus died and rose from the dead after one day. This Easter Sunday they had cardboard testimonies. I have never heard of that before, but it was very powerful. We will be making the 58 mile drive to attend often.

24/365 - Its a party

This time of year is full of parties. Rachel last weekend, Friday was the Richardson twins, today was the Mathis', next week is Drew's. We have been very very busy but we have been having a lot of fun. Happy Birthday Riley, Hadlie and Harlie!!!!!!!!!!

23/365 - Fossil Rim

Fossil Rim is a place where you drive and feed animals. We got lucky and got to feed a giraffe. Rachel got to run around in the back of the expedition and pretended to be a puppy most of the time, but she had a lot of fun. We all had fun.

22/365 - District Track Meet

Today was my last track meet. It was our District Track Meet. The seventh grade had a chance to win district but fell a little short coming in second. They ran hard, I was proud of them. This is a picture of one of our gold medals.

21/365 - Easter Break

Today we got out for Easter Break!! Rachel colored these at Ms. Kim's. She is growing on so fast.

20/365 - Jack Frost

Well I don't know if we technically had frost, but it got in the 20's last night at Jacksboro, Texas. I really don't think it froze the whole month of February. Here we are in April and it freezes, even broke a record for lows. I think my tomatoes may be done for.

19/365 - Balloon man

Rachel's shirt on a simple balloon was the highlight of the evening. I even had to tuck it into bed with her.

18/365 - New Decor.

After our party Rachel was so excited because she could bring home the table cloth. She saw it and just insisted we put Bolt on our table.

17/365 - Jump Party

Today was the Jump Party. We had a lot of fun. I could not resist getting in there and jumping with the kids. It was a lot of fun.

16/365 - There's my tape

At my last track meet I reached in my bag to get my tape out and it wasn't there. I really didn't think to look for it when I got home because it was late. Well as I walked into the office today I was reminded that my tape was not put away. Rachel pulled all 100 feet out. I thought it was funny. I thought well she can just roll it up. She started to roll it up on her own as I left the room, chuckling. Bad coaching move on my part. I don't know how she rolled it up so tight, but when I got back it took me over 30 minuets to get the knots out and the twists out.

15/365 - Birthday

Rachel turned 4 on April 2. How time flies it doesn't seem that long ago that I was at Cook's Children Hospital in Ft Worth. Now she is about to start kindergarden. happy Birthday Rachel, we love you.

14/365 - Preparing for District Track

I have a lot of sleepless nights because of track. There are so many different scenarios. The right board shows the other teams in our district and where they get points from each event. So now I have to strategically place my kids in events where I can get the maximum amount of points, (the board on the left). This usually gets changed a few times before it is set. I have literally woke up and got out of bed in the middle of the night because of this.
